SEPTEMBER 12

PITCH  ///  LEARN  ///  CONNECT

100% ONLINE + INTERACTIVE

Produced by

Formats…. Everyone seems to love them. But what are they really? Do they just apply to the reality megaliths like Big Brother or Married at First Sight? Or can you take almost any factual idea and turn it into a format?

Building on the success of our first TV Format LAB in 2019, we are running a second one day, online lab on Sunday 12 September.

Fear not online fatigue, this will be an entertaining, (most appropriate) interactive event that will bring together the leading lights of format TV including the creators of the of the hugely successful hit shows, The Block and You Can’t Ask That?, who will share their expert knowledge and experience to guide you to develop your very own format.

In addition to gaining up to the minute industry intelligence, you will participate in a practical series of workshops where you’ll be teamed up to develop an idea in real time, creating a structure, episodic elements, run casting interviews, create a trailer and pitch the format – all in a day! This hands-on lab will equip you with the skills to build your own format from scratch whilst gaining insight into current market trends.

This interactive online lab provides incredible access to leading industry experts and broadcast commissioners including:

Darren Chau – Senior Director of Production, Discovery Inc

Julian Cress and David Barbour – creators of the hit megalith The Block

Kirk Docker and Aaron Smith – creators of You Can’t Ask That?

Tarni James – Executive Producer, Drama, Entertainment, Indigenous at ABC
